Ten Foods to Boost Your Brain

A green omelet is a great way to boost the brain.. Being rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins B12 and D, and choline, eggs are excellent for brain health. Choline is an essential nutrient that plays an important role in several metabolic pathways and acts as a neurotransmitter. It improves your memory and cognitive power. Vitamin B12 is essential for the proper functioning of the brain. Research has shown that a lack of this nutrient may lead to brain shrinkage, which is a predecessor to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. One whole egg (hard-boiled) contains about 1.11 mcg of vitamin B12 which is 18.5% of the total daily requirement of this vitamin. Omega-3 fatty acids, too, help increase brain volume. Vitamin D, which is found in very few foods, also improves brain function because it works as a modulator in brain development.

This healthy monounsaturated fat increases blood flow to the brain. That means more oxygen getting to those parts or your brain that help you to think and to remember details. Use it instead of butter, I like to spread it on my Life Changing Bread with red cabbage saukraut.

Green Smoothie

Green ingredients have a whole host of brain improving properties. Spinach contains a good source of folate which prevents plaque buildup and helps with neurotransmitters. These greens are also packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, and carotenoids which help protect the brain. Celery contains a good source of Luteolin which is linked to lower rates of memory loss and inflammation in the brain. Kale has a great amino acid call L-tyrosine which creates dopamin and norepinephrine to lift mood, solve problems, and improves memory. Nuts and seeds are also high in Omega-3’s which help with inflammation, cognitive deficits, and memory

Dark Chocolate

Reduces inflammation and may help prevent oxidation of the brain, which is the precursor to many neurological diseases. Who says that healthy food can’t be delicious? Cocoa can improve verbal fluency and cognitive function in elderly people, while eating a daily portion of dark chocolate has been found to improve blood flow to the brain. So don’t feel guilty about that chocolate bar – your brain will thank you.

Intermittent fasting can regenerate the tissues of the brain, which activates ketosis, which removes fat (a contributing factor of brain degenerative disease) burning fat at this rate will generate ESSC Embryonic Style Stem Cells and play a role in replacing weak and damaged tissues of the body including brain cells..

Some healthy eating devotees take a regular dose of pure fish oil but if you can’t stomach the dietary supplement, eating plenty of salmon is an excellent alternative.

Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for a healthy diet, and offers a sizeable portion of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Not only are fatty acids good for the heart, but DHA has also been found to boost neuron function in the brain.

Broccoli mix into stir fry’s with oily fish to improve your cognitive function . Broccoli is a source of two crucial nutrients that help improve brain function. Vitamin K helps to strengthen cognitive abilities while Choline has been found to improve memory – people who eat plenty of broccoli perform better on memory tests. Broccoli also includes a sizeable serving of folic acid, which can help ward off Alzheimer’s disease. Studies suggest that a lack of folic acid could lead to depression; so eating plenty of broccoli could also keep you happy.

Help reverse age related problems in the area of brain function, improve learning, motor skills and vision. blueberries don’t simply improve memory – they can actually reverse memory loss. A study published in the Journal of Neuroscience found an extract of blueberries eaten every day led to a reversal of nerve cell damage in rats. After eating their daily dose of berries, the rodents learned faster, had a better short-term memory and had improved balance and co-ordination. The humble blueberry is truly a superfood for your brain cells.

Coconut Oil

Of all the organs in your body, your brain especially needs healthy dietary fat. It’s largely made of fat, 60% by weight. Your brain cell membrane integrity largely depends on the quality of the fats you eat. You may have heard that coconut oil can increase your cholesterol. And that’s a good thing for your brain! Your brain specifically needs cholesterol. The brain has higher cholesterol content than any other organ with about 25% of the body’s cholesterol found in the brain.

Water improves every single bodily function, including quick thinking and focus. The brain is one of the most important organs in your body to keep fueled. It is approximately 85 percent water and brain function depends on having abundant access to water. The reason why it is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day for optimal brain function is because your brain does not have any way to store water. When your body loses more water than you are replacing, dehydration will kick in and brain function will be affected.
